Description
The hiking trail from the Gotthard Pass to Göschenen stretches along a breathtaking route in the middle of the Swiss Alps. The trail not only offers a fascinating insight into the natural beauty of the region, but also into the rich history and culture associated with the Gotthard Pass.
From the starting point, the Gotthard Pass at 2106 m.a.s.l., the hike begins with a gentle descent along a well-marked path. Hikers then continue along the route, lined with lush alpine meadows and rugged cliffs. The trail continues past the idyllic mountain villages of Hospental and Andermatt, where various restaurants invite you to stop for a bite to eat. From Andermatt, you then head into the impressive and legendary Schöllenen Gorge and over the old Devil's Bridge. From there you have a fantastic view of the roaring Reuss. Surrounded by steep rock faces, you then hike along the very well-maintained hiking trail through the Schöllenen to your destination of Göschenen.
