The High Triple: Furka - Grimsel - Susten
Route Information
Best Time of Year
Description
The route first takes racing cyclists from Andermatt through the valley floor of the Ursern Valley to Realp. There the road climbs up to the first of the three passes - the Furka. Past the James Bond curve to the top of the pass, and then downhill again, past the iconic Hotel Belvédère. The landscape on the Furka is rugged, rocky and yet somehow warm. Once you reach Gletsch, the route climbs up several hairpin bends to the Grimselsee and then the Grimsel Pass. If you're lucky, you might spot a marmot here. Pass two out of three done! It's a rapid descent to Innertkirchen, where lots of forest and gentle bends await you. But the road soon climbs again. On the Susten Pass, you will soon catch sight of the imposing Steingletscher glacier. You can then look forward to a wonderful descent through the picturesque Meiental valley. Once you arrive in Wassen, a final ascent awaits you, namely through the historic Schöllenen Gorge, past the Devil's Bridges, back to Andermatt.
