Description

The open-air theater "1799 - Revolta ella Cadi" tells the story of the turbulent events surrounding the year 1799 against the impressive backdrop of Disentis Abbey. Around 30 actors and actresses as well as numerous extras bring the time of the French and Habsburg troops and the resistance of the locals to the stage in an impressive way. The production combines drama, music and emotion to create a special theater experience in the open air. The play is mainly performed in Romansh (Sursilvan), supplemented with German and French elements. This creates an authentic and varied atmosphere. The play is also easy to understand for German-speaking visitors, although it is mainly performed in Romansh. A German-speaking character accompanies the play and narrates the events. French dialog is also used. There is also a description of the play in German on the website and in the program booklet. This means that even people without any knowledge of Romansh can follow the plot and the historical context well. The covered auditorium seats around 400 people. The play is performed on the square next to Disentis Abbey - a unique performance venue that impressively combines history and landscape. "1799 - Revolta ella Cadi" is more than just a play: it is a cultural experience for locals, vacation guests and anyone who wants to experience history, language and the special atmosphere of an open-air theater.
