Basic course in wood sculpting/carving

In the basic course "Wood sculpting/carving", you will gain your first practical experience in working with wood and classic sculpting tools. Basic techniques are taught step by step - from the safe use of carving tools to sharpening them. In addition to introductory exercises, the course focuses on your own individually designed project. You can choose between a bowl, a spoon or a small sculpture, which you will design, plan and realize in wood. The course accompanies the entire design process from the raw piece of wood to the finished object. Target group Anyone aged 16 and over who enjoys learning an old craft and wants to try their hand at wood sculpting. Course leader Sara Zünd is a trained wood sculptor and carpenter. During her years of traveling through various regions, she has deepened her knowledge of the traditional craft and gained insights into various workshops. Today she works in her own studio, where she gives shape to her ideas and lives and passes on her enthusiasm for woodworking. www.atelier-akanthus.ch Bring along Work clothes, sketching material and, if available, your own carving tools Number of participants The course can be held from 4 to a maximum of 6 people. Insurance is the responsibility of the course participants. Meals and accommodation are not included in the course.
