Ursern Valley Museum
Event Information
Description
The Ursern Valley Museum is located in one of the most beautiful patrician buildings in the Ursern Valley. The house was built in 1786 as a residential and commercial building by the later valley magistrate Franz Dominik Nager and is said to have served as the headquarters for the Russian General Suworov on September 24/25, 1799. Therefore, it was given the name 'Suworow House' by the locals.
After a fundamental renovation of the building, the Ursern Valley Museum was opened in 1991. The museum features various permanent exhibitions. These include the living culture around the end of the 18th century, the valley and cultural history, tourism, military, alpine economy, alpine animals, pack animal trade, a cabinet of natural curiosities, and the career of the local ski legend Bernhard Russi. Additionally, temporary exhibitions are presented in the basement.
Admission for children and teenagers is free
