Description
The cozy hut, with good facilities and beautiful sleeping rooms, is located in the Chelenalp Valley (Göschenen). Situated at 2350 m (7709 ft) above sea level, the hut lies in a wildly romantic mountain landscape and is an ideal starting point for hiking, climbing, and high-altitude tours.
The hike starts at the Göscheneralp Reservoir near the Dammagletscher mountain inn. Surrounded by a fantastic backdrop, the hut path leads over alpine meadows and rocky path sections into the secluded Chelenalp Valley. After a short ascent, the path leads 5 km gently uphill past the Göscheneralp Lake into the Chelenalp Valley. The massive valley end with the Chelen Glacier, the view of the winter mountains, and the numerous streams shorten the way. After alpine buildings and ruins of Hinter Röti, the path overcomes some rock steps secured with fixed ropes and meets a clearly visible cairn. Then, the ascent overcomes the last steep section in many switchbacks, and you reach the Chelenalphütte.
