Sedrun Solar
Experience the future of energy - up close at Sedrun Solar!
Sedrun Solar is Switzerland's first large-scale alpine photovoltaic system at 2000 meters above sea level - a pioneering project that not only supplies electricity, but also serves as a fascinating excursion destination. Thanks to the intense solar radiation and the reflection of snow, the system produces renewable energy efficiently, especially in winter.
This innovative project brings the Swiss energy transition to life - and will open its doors to visitors from summer 2025. With exciting guided tours, a specially designed showroom in the Sedrun community center and the opportunity to visit the solar plant on a guided hike, a new experience is being created for guests, locals, school classes, technology enthusiasts and families.
The schedule
The guided tour starts in the "Aventura Energia" energy experience room in the Sedrun town hall, where the Sedrun Solar project, its technical implementation and its significance for Switzerland's energy future are explained briefly and concisely. The tour then continues on foot to Sedrun railroad station. Participants travel by train to the Oberalp Pass and continue on foot towards the construction site. On the way there is time for an individual lunch from the rucksack. (Train ticket & lunch at own expense).
In the afternoon, there is a hike through the impressive alpine landscape to the solar field. On site, experienced guides provide fascinating insights into the technology and operation of the plant. The return journey is by train from Tschamut to Sedrun.
