Active outdoor activities in spring: what you need to know
Andermatt, May 1, 2025
Spring has arrived in the Andermatt Holiday Region - but there is still an exceptional amount of snow at higher altitudes. As a result, many hiking trails are currently only passable to a limited extent or not at all.
You should be aware of this:
Hikes above 1,600 metres above sea level are not yet possible.
Below 1,600 metres above sea level, signposts have been installed for the most part.
The avalanche danger currently varies between level 2 (in the morning) and level 3 (in the afternoon). Please check the SLF avalanche bulletin daily.
Currently passable, snow-free paths:
Unteralp circular routes
Further information:
Alpine passes: Not yet accessible. Current information can be found here.
Tomasee: Not yet accessible. Situation report on the webcam & website of the Maighels hut.
Gottardo hiking trail: Not yet accessible as the bridges between Wassen and Göschenen are missing. Current information can be found here.
Via ferrata Diavolo: Open from 24 May until probably the end of October. Please enquire about the current status at the tourist information centre (+41 41 888 71 00 | info@andermatt.swiss) before your tour.
