Description

This tour is not part of the signposted snowshoe trail network. We are in open terrain where we have to assess the dangers ourselves.

Important: Do not take the normal summer route via Croce Portera! Avalanche blasting.

After we have reached the clearly visible junction on the pass road, we put on the snowshoes.

We are in the middle of a fairytale forest, sometimes the snow-covered pine branches almost hang in our faces, sometimes small clearings open up. As soon as we leave the forest we roam through hilly, open terrain and soon we reach the highest point. We can already see our destination in the distance, the houses of Dötra. It now goes slightly downwards, always with a view of the Rheinwaldhorn.

We stop at the Grotto Dötra. We listen to the lively conversation in the Ticino dialect and treat ourselves to a Boccalino or a Tazzino Vino Rosso with a plate of dried meat.

Before the sun gets too low we make our way back and now we are happy about the beautiful trail that we laid ourselves. But if only we had drunk tea!

Tip: Since the Lukmanierpass cannot be reached by public transport in winter, a call bus is available upon request:
