Safety and consideration are essential on all trails and mountain passes. Follow the rules, take care of your equipment and respect nature as well as other cyclists and hikers. This will keep your adventure safe and enjoyable.
Choose your route according to your ability and conditions.
Make sure you have the right equipment: helmet, gloves, goggles, protectors.
The following applies to racing cyclists: wear light-coloured clothing, use lights (especially in tunnels) and follow the traffic rules - especially on busy Alpine passes. Ride defensively and always be prepared for car traffic or restricted visibility on bends.
Always give way to hikers.
Pass at walking pace or descend briefly.
Leave themed trails to families.
Be considerate on pass roads too - especially when cycling in groups: Stay behind each other and do not block any lanes.
No shortcuts: Stay on the marked and signalled routes.
Keep your distance from cows and do not touch calves.
Pay attention to markings and signposts.
Close pasture fences when you pass them.
Remain calm and give the dog time to assess you.
Keep your distance from the herd and avoid moving quickly.
Once the dog has calmed down, continue on your way and go round the herd.
