Description

Easy gliding passages alternate with more demanding sections, there are challenging ascents and fast descents. From the start at the town hall, the trail first leads below the villages of Sedrun and Rueras. In Dieni, you pass the ruins of Putnengia Castle. This was probably built in the 13th century by the lords of Pontaningen and was inhabited for over 200 years.

Several loops later, the lowest point of the trail is reached and you glide along the Rhine - sometimes through the forest and then again across open fields. After the power station, where the installation site for the NRLA construction site was located for over 20 years, the area was renaturalized. It is now accessible on cross-country skis. The evenly ascending section back to Sedrun is also thanks to the NRLA: the temporary access road to the railroad construction site has been retained and is part of the trail in winter.

If all the loops are included, the whole loop is around 15 kilometers long. However, this can be shortened or extended at various points as the mood takes you. Leisurely cross-country skiers prefer to do their laps on the valley floor, starting at the power station.

Sedrun night trail: open Tuesday, Friday & Saturday from 17:00 - 21:00

Free access to the cross-country ski trail with the guest card: You can find more information about the guest card here
