Description

The eighth stage of the Glacier Bike Tour starts in Andermatt and leads over the Furka Pass to the source of the Rhone in Valais. On this section, you can expect not only a challenging climb of almost 900 meters in altitude, but also the discovery of one of the most beautiful and smallest villages in Switzerland. After crossing the Furka Pass and the cantonal border, you roll the first few meters into Valais and catch sight of the imposing Rhone Glacier - the source of the river of the same name. The famous Hotel Belvédère is located there, but is currently not in operation. The descent offers breathtaking views of the four-thousand-metre peaks of the Valais and Bernese Alps. The landscape changes from alpine heights to picturesque expanses in the Goms. Surrounded by the Furka, Grimsel and Nufenen passes, you reach Ulrichen, the destination of this stage - one of the many scenic and cultural highlights on the Glacier Bike Tour.
