Description
We start our hike in Fuorns and immediately head steeply upward through a fir forest. At the Ziegenalp Puzzetta we are surprised by a modern, red alpine building and immediately agree that it fits well into the landscape and is very photogenic. Along a mountainside and only moderately ascending, we hike into Val la Buora; below on the right, we see the rocky stream bed where the waters of the Davos la Buora glacier flow down. To the Fuorcla dalla Buora it is about three hundred meters more in elevation, which we have to practically overcome in a straight line.
Once at the top, the view opens onto the Medelser**Glacier. The ridge that now follows is alternately wide and covered with grass and heather, then again challenging and interspersed with rocky passages. It goes up and down until we finally reach point 2479, next to the large cairn, where we can enjoy the view. The valleys with their villages and districts lie far below us, and the 360-degree mountain panorama is impressively dotted with snow-covered peaks. On the descent, we come to Crap Stagias** by a hut with a fire pit and fountain, a good opportunity for a short rest. For the rest of the descent, we are again enveloped in shady greenery. We marvel at how the forest has recovered after the devastating storm Vivian and is now more species-rich than ever. We finish our hike in Curaglia.
