Description
We start the route in Mutschnengia, a small mountain village opposite Curaglia. When there is little snow, it is pleasant to walk to Stagias on the snow-covered road. However, we use the already existing ascent tracks across the field and after the pretty Maiensässen below the rise we enter the forest. We are in a wildlife sanctuary zone, and the route is marked in orange. At the hut in Tegia Nova, we take a break before heading towards the broad ridge of Plaun Grond. The key point is point 2361. If there is enough snow, we can manage the short ascent with skis, otherwise a few minutes of carrying is required. What lies ahead after this stage takes longer than expected, but eventually we overcome the last altitude meters to the broad summit. The valley view towards Sedrun is overwhelming, and if we weren’t so excited about the descent, we might stay a bit longer and count summits.
The descent over the north side through the little valley Puzzetta down to Crest Miez delivers on all promises of drifting powder snow. Through the forest we glide easily on the alpine road to Stagias, and afterwards we take the snow as it is. The south slope quickly becomes snow-free and is not always optimal to ski.
