Description

This route is not part of the signposted snowshoe trail network. We are in open terrain where we must assess the dangers ourselves.

We follow the tracks of snowmobiles and other snowshoers down to the creek and balance over the bridge across the Brenno, which flows gently and silently. Through the following sparse larch forest, we behave very quietly because snow hares also live here. The gnarled larches wear original hats made of snow - a wonderful photo subject. After a short time, we emerge from the forest and in front of us lies Alpe Stabbia Nuovo. The high-voltage line only slightly spoils the natural experience and serves as an orientation aid. Following the hiking trail markers, we hike southeast so that we always have the wires nicely on the left side, as this is the best way to find the entrance to Stèbia Vècc. Now it goes down through the forest into a romantically wild little valley where a narrow bridge leads us over the creek. The landscape is varied, alternating between open spaces and forest. We take a break at the Rusticos in Pian Segno. In Acquacalda, we stay on the right side of the pass road and follow the summer hiking trail through the sparse larch forest to Alpe Pozzetta and back to the parking lot in Casaccia.

Tip: Since the Lukmanier Pass is not accessible by public transport in winter, a call bus is available on request:
