Description
This cheese dairy served in the 1960s as a communal cheese dairy for the farmers in Clavaniev. At that time, there were four farming operations in Clavaniev. Nearly every household had a cow and some goats. The neighbors made cheese together, each according to the amount of milk they supplied. This was mostly in the spring, before the farmers took their cows to the alpine pastures. Back then, about 7 operations brought their milk to the dairy. One farmer was in charge of control and noted on the measure board when it was someone's turn to make cheese. Everyone was their own dairyman. In the end, only the goat owners continued to bring their milk, which Tresa Flepp turned into cheese for a few more years.
