Flute player Faun

Description

The shepherds worshipped the flute player Faun as the god of forests and meadows, but feared the sight of him. They asked him to protect their herds and made sacrifices to him. The current location of the ‘Faun’ sculpture is reminiscent of an old cattle track that was used by goats around 20 years ago to reach the pasture above Andermatt. The sculpture was created around 15 years ago by Bruno Pfyl, a stonemason from Brunnen (SZ). There are only twelve such sculptures in the world.
