forum.medelina – “Social Development in a Mountain Village”

Event information
Description
In current discussions about opportunities for participation in mountain villages, negative reports often predominate. These include, for example, the shortage of primary residences, the decline of shops and restaurants, out-migration, and debates about the not always harmonious coexistence of permanent residents and second-home owners. At this year’s forum, we would like to shift our focus away from problems and toward opportunities, highlighting untapped and underutilized potential. Many residents—whether primary or secondary home owners—as well as guests, seasonal workers, and even asylum seekers possess valuable experience, expertise, and contacts from their professional and personal networks. This valuable resource could be utilized even more effectively to develop new projects, foster innovation, or support local organizations and cultural events. We will discuss how this could be achieved with our guests and participants. Welcome & Panel Discussion Moderated by Stefan Forster, ZHAW, uniun medelina Panel discussion with: Céline Meury, Regional Development Specialist, Surselva Rita Schmid, Mayor of Vals | Michael Caflisch, AWT GR Kevin Brunold, CEO of Surselva Tourism | Caroline Huber, Member of the Grand Council Comedic summary by Dr. Walter B.
