Tower of Hospental

Description

The tower of the Lords of Hospental, the most striking building in Hospental, dominates the Ursern Valley. Probably built by the lords of Hospental in the 13th century, it once served as a residential tower and has been uninhabited since the 15th century. The well-preserved ruins still show the former moat as a hollow on the west side.

The tower is visible from many points in the valley and is well worth the climb. Visitors can reach the viewing platform and four intermediate landings via stairs. The path to the top offers interesting insights into the history of the castle complex and an impressive panoramic view of the Ursern Valley and the village of Hospental.
