Last Ride «Val-Val» on April 6, 2025
Andermatt/Sedrun, March 26, 2025
After 36 years in service, the chairlifts Val Val – Calmut and Val Val – Cuolm Val, built in 1988, will take their final ride on 6 April 2025.
The replacement of the two lifts will double transport capacity from 1,200 to 2,400 people per hour. Two modern 6-seater chairlifts will be built, including new base and summit stations.
Construction begins in spring 2025, with operation starting for the 2025/26 winter season.
Representatives from Vail Resorts and Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG will take the “last” chairlift ride from Val Val to Cuolm Val on 6 April 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Upon arrival, a short speech will be given by Mike Goar (COO Vail Resorts Switzerland) and Silvio Schmid (Project Manager). Afterwards, all guests and locals are warmly invited to a farewell aperitif. Important: Access to Cuolm Val is only possible on skis. After the “last ride” at 4:00 p.m., the operation of the two Val Val chairlifts will be permanently discontinued. Return to Andermatt will then only be possible by train.
