A short breather - the next pass is already waiting.

The Summit of Cycling: diversity on two wheels

As part of The Summit of Cycling, the region delights road bike enthusiasts, gravel fans and mountain bikers alike. Thanks to its central location, road bike tours can be flexibly combined - whether as a day tour or a stage ride. Instead of cumbersome transfers, you can cycle varied tours here without having to complete the same route twice. Your luggage stays comfortably in your accommodation while you conquer pass after pass.

Almost too good to be true: a perfect hairpin bend on the Furka Pass.

Passes for every level

The classics such as Furka, Gotthard and Oberalp are not only popular because of their sporting challenge, they also lead through three cantons with their very own character: the aroma of espresso in Ticino, the Swiss stone pine forests of Graubünden, the views of glaciers in Valais - every bend brings new impressions. And with formats such as the Starter Triple, Long Triple or High Triple, you'll find the right loop for every level. If you prefer something more intense, choose the Alpine Quad variants N°1 and N°2 or dare to tackle the High Five with a whopping 266 km and around 6,640 metres in altitude - a challenge for body and mind.

Discover Alpine diversity

Special highlights await you along the routes: the historic Tremola on the Gotthard Pass with its cobblestones, the rough James Bond curve on the Furka or the glittering lake Oberalp with its lighthouse on the Oberalp Pass. The region also offers a variety of options away from the tarmac. Discover unspoilt valleys, such as the Unteralp or Witenwasserntal, or follow the historic Bäzstrasse military road to Rossmettlen. Many Alpine passes can also be reached via gravel paths - ideal for gravel bikes.

Events with cult status

Andermatt is also a regular venue for the ‘Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet’. One of the most famous cycling marathons in Europe attracts cycling enthusiasts to the passes every year. Those who shy away from the hustle and bustle can try their hand at seven individual passes and collect digital badges in the ‘Alpenbrevet Extended’ until October. Legends such as Fabian Cancellara are also making a stop in Andermatt: with Chasing Cancellara, you can compete directly against the former professional cyclist on the Zurich-Andermatt route. So it's no wonder that the Tour de Suisse is also a regular guest in the region - the Gotthard, Lukmanier, Furka and Nufenen are among the most travelled stage classics in the country.

The Tremola on the Gotthard Pass has already been part of the Tour de Suisse several times and the scene of spectacular duels.

Conclusion: your basecamp for that alpine road bike feeling

Whether you want to chase records, discover new areas or simply collect metres in altitude - you'll find it all in the Andermatt Holiday Region. So: put on your helmet, click in your shoes and set off. The passes are waiting!
