GTT Cari - Bodio 5th stage

The last day of hiking is here, and we set off early to take advantage of the morning coolness. Always on the sunny side of the Leventina, we mostly hike on the legendary Strada Alta Leventina, on which, however, contrary to its name, only on short sections do you have to walk on the road. Parallel to the road that connects the villages of Calonico, Anzonico, Cavagnago, and Sobrio, there is also a hiking trail. Partly through open forests, then again over well-kept meadows and past picturesque rustici. A "treat" at the end is the descent to Bodio. The path is, in Ticino style, repeatedly equipped with stairs, winds down the valley in numerous hairpin bends, and in the lower part we enter a bright chestnut forest. Tired and happy and also a little proud, we arrive in Bodio.

By post bus it is only a short distance to Biasca, where there are further accommodations.
