Description
Up to Alp Plaun Barcuns, pines, larches, birches, bird cherry and blueberry bushes line our path. We hear the splashing of small streams and occasionally the call of the nutcracker. It pecks the larch nuts out of the cones, stores them in large numbers in its throat pouch under the tongue, and transports them to storage caches. It leaves the remains of the cones behind.
Above the hut, the forest gradually thins and the terrain becomes rockier. Crossing meadows and small streams, we reach the hut Stavel Sut from where we descend into Val la Buora. The wild waters from the "Glatscher Davos la Buora" have created a wide and rocky riverbed here. It is a very wild and primeval landscape.
The path now climbs gently through a forest to the Alp Puzzetta, where we are surprised by a modern, red building. Up to 300 dairy goats and 4 - 6 herders and helpers spend the summer here. For the descent to Fuorns, we choose the somewhat steep, direct hiking trail along the lower glacier stream.
