Description

Pizzo Centrale is a popular ski touring destination in the region and lies on the border of the cantons of Uri, Ticino, and Graubünden. From the summit, there is a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.

The tour begins at the Gemsstockbahn mountain station and initially leads down into the Gafalla Valley. From there, the first ascent begins over the Gafalla Pass into the Guspis Valley. After a short descent, another ascent follows. You then climb up to the ski depot below the summit. The final meters to the highest point at 2,999 m above sea level are covered on foot.

The descent leads through the Guspistal valley down to the Gotthard Pass road. The route then continues along the pass road—which is closed in winter—to Hospental.
