Description

Project Concept: A Land Art project that brings the symbiosis between nature and objects to life and encourages reflection. The installation invites visitors to reflect on humanity’s behavior on this planet. It is intended to accompany hikers on their journey to Mumpé Medel—a symbolic ascent that encourages them to examine their own behavior and the footprint they leave behind.

Raumzeitraum Flyer

The collective led by Manuela Fischer is delighted that their collaborative work is now being given a second life for five years: along the hiking trail starting at “Center Fontauna” in Disentis, past the Sontga Gada Chapel, across Graubünden’s longest suspension bridge over the Rhine, all the way up to Mumpé Medel—where a sledding adventure awaits in winter and a warming drink awaits at the destination.

Seven themes that bridge the gap between art, nature, and one’s own perception. At each of the seven stations, questions are posed that can spark conversations within the family, with friends, or with oneself. The number seven is considered a symbol of perfection in many cultures. In Christianity, for example, the seven virtues take center stage, and the story of creation also lasted seven days. Among the Māori in New Zealand, the Pleiades constellation is known as the “seven eyes of the wind.” See for yourself where your thoughts wander as you look!

1 Infinity Where does the world end? What comes after life? – Two mirrors facing each other reflect your own image into infinity.

2 Life’s Journey Where does your path lead you? Do you always walk strictly straight ahead, or does your life take turns and detours—is there a destination? – The spiral unites the beginning, the circular path, and the end.

3 Looking Closely What do you see with your two eyes? Would you see more if you had seven? – The “Seven Eyes of the Wind” invite you to look more closely.

4 Past What was the world like in ancient times? – The crystals on the ceramic sphere come from the area around the Brunnigletscher above Disentis and are 15 to 20 million years old.

5 Future What will we leave behind? What comes after us? – This figure was created as part of a project by graphic design apprentices. New generations are exploring and blazing new trails.

6 The Magic of Nature What is the red dwarf calling out to us? Watch out for the sledding trail? Do we respect nature? – Many forget that we, too, are just dwarves in an enchanting world.

7 Water What if the glaciers and clouds no longer bring water? – No one eats at the table with the hanging cutlery because nothing is coming onto the plates anymore.
