Description
Starting from the small mountain village Cavorgia, which is still inhabited year-round, the route goes first over open terrain and later on a snow-covered forest road to Mises Grond. The following ascent through the forest can be somewhat tedious. In fresh snow, we sink between tree stumps and roots; if there’s little snow, we get tangled up in them. At the hut in Riada, a steep section follows that must be assessed well. Once we clear this section, it becomes "chocolate" and the deep view greatly compensates us for all our effort. Below the summit, we reach the end of the broad ridge. Then follows the summit slope, whose northwest ridge is sometimes completely blown out. Today we easily reach the summit with skis, otherwise a ski depot would have to be made. There would still be plenty of room for more sports enthusiasts up here, but we enjoy being alone.
For the descent, we choose the variant into Val Nalps. For this, we continue southwards over the ridge to point 2478. Perfect slopes await us, an unlit short tunnel, and a leisurely run on the snow-covered road.
Variant 1: Along the ascent route, a delight in powder or slush (normal route)
Variant 2: Over the snow-covered ridge further to point 2478 and then in an easterly direction into Val Gierm. (At the lowest part, there are alder bushes)
