Lolenpass - Trail
Route Information
Best Time of Year
Description
Our route starts very relaxed, first with an easy descent along the pass road and later on a high-level trail along the eastern flank of the Pazzolastock. On a forest road, we cover the final stretch to the Maighel hut. Along the way we enjoy the Plidutscha plain, the first crossing of the very young Rhine, and small clear blue mountain lakes. At the hut, we really relax on the terrace.
Soon we take on the final 150 meters in altitude to Lolenpass and reach a water-rich and mossy plain that gently slopes down to the Unteralptal. Then we continue down to an alp and shortly afterwards reach the phenomenal hairpin bends for the final descent. We are sent back and forth a total of 48 times until we reach the valley floor.
On the alp road to Andermatt, it is a matter of perseverance. The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway takes us back to the starting point at Oberalppass.
