Sedrun
Source of the Rhine
Sedrun is the main town of the Tujetsch region, which comprises 11 so-called fractions. As the name suggests, Rhaeto-Romanic is spoken in Sedrun and the surrounding area. The area is the cradle of the Rhine: Europe's most important river rises in Lake Toma at 2,345 m above sea level near the Oberalp Pass. The cantons of Graubünden and Uri also meet here. The Romansh culture, the beautiful, wild alpine landscape and the lovely villages with cosy mountain taverns invite you to enjoy.
Active holidays
In summer there are many possibilities for hikes, mountain and bike tours from Sedrun: idyllic bathing lakes and the Rhine offer the opportunity to linger or take a cooling dip. On the golf course you can even play your ball over the river. Racing cyclists enjoy riding on one of the various surrounding mountain passes. In winter, the well-developed ski area Andermatt, Sedrun, Disentis, the many freeride slopes and touring peaks as well as the well-prepared cross-country ski trails in the region attract snow sports enthusiasts to the Tujetsch.
